SUMMARY:Copernicus: Market uptake for Finnish private sector
DESCRIPTION:Registration\nCopernicus\, the European Union’s Earth observation and monitoring programme (http://copernicus.eu)\, produces a wealth of data regarding land\, atmosphere\, oceans and inland waters and cross-cutting processes like climate change\, disaster management and security. The vast majority of data and information delivered by the Copernicus Space infrastructure and the Copernicus services are made available and accessible to any citizen and any organisation around the world on a free\, full and open access basis.  This is expected to unleash unique market opportunities. The BalticSatApps (www.balticsatapps.eu) project aims to advance the development of new solutions and commercial activity that utilize Copernicus earth observation data. \nThe workshop presents Copernicus services with data accessibility. Use cases in different domains will be presented on Copernicus data and service use.  The workshop will provide guidance to develop solutions related to Copernicus Services. We will present funding opportunities for enhancing existing businesses or setting up new businesses by introducing acceleration programs within BalticSatApps project. \nProgramme\n12:30–13:00     Registration \n13:00–13:10     Welcome + BalticSatApps project \n13:10–13:30     Copernicus Services + Copernicus data access and DIAS \n13:30–13:50     Arctic Space Centre and National Satellite Data Centre\, FMI \n13:50–14:10     Forestry Thematic Exploitation platform\, VTT \n14:10–14:30     From hydrology and terrestrial ecosystems to the Baltic Sea\, SYKE \n14:30–14:50     Coffee Break \n14:50–15:30     Market uptake – use cases (each est. 10 min) \nLand use (forest) – Bitcomp \nReal estate – A-insinöörit \nAir quality (air pollution) – UrbanZee \nSmart city – ZeroGravity \n15:30–15:50     Funding – ESA Business applications and New Space Economy Programme \n15:50–16:00     Final wrap-up and discussion \n16:00–17:30     Networking cocktail

SUMMARY:Nordic Remote Sensing Conference 2019— Data Acquisition\, Algorithms and Applications
DESCRIPTION:NoRSC’19 will bring together researchers in the broad field of Remote Sensing in\, but not restricted to\, the Nordic and Arctic countries. Topics include the acquisition of data from satellite\, airborne\, terrestrial or under-water platforms\, development of algorithms for data processing and analysis\, and the use of derived metrics in applications across disciplines. NoRSC’19 seeks to strengthen the cooperation between institutes and research groups in Earth Observation\, taking inspiration from the Nordic Remote Sensing Days organised jointly by the Norwegian Space Centre and the Tromsø Centre for Remote Technology in 2011\, and by the Finnish Remote Sensing Club in 2009. \nThe BalticSatApps is not an organiser of the Conference\, but willingly circulates information about it to researchers in our network. \n

SUMMARY:Programme Conference 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme Conference on 9–10 April 2019 in Lübeck gathers people responsible for allocating these EU funds as well as for using them. The aim of the Conference is to exchange about progress made and to understand what transnational Interreg cooperation has achieved for the region to date. \nBalticSatApps will be featured on the conference by the Lead partner Project manager\, Tuomas Ranti from the University of Turku. BalticSatApps will be an example of ”Projects and platforms: What is being achieved”\, in the heading of ”Research infrastructure for innovation”. This is a great opportunity to emphasise the case examples of business utilization of open Earth observation and satellite data\, and also to present the pioneering cooperation on the thematic with the Russian Federation.
